The Quantum Centre
The quantum centre has two disabled spaces and a canteen over the road all open to the public - give them a call!!
The Quantum Centre is a new learning centre that delivers enhanced education
and training opportunities. It is the result of an innovative partnership
project between Rolls-Royce, EDS, Derby Tertiary College: Wilmorton, Derby
City Council and the Southern Derbyshire Chamber of Commerce, and is open
to Rolls-Royce employees and families, as well as small businesses and the
community.
Due to the facilities on offer at the centre, Alison Horton (10) has gained
more confidence in using her home PC. Not to be outdone by their daughter,
Mr Alan Horton (an Advanced Technologist in Engineering Programming with EDS)
and his wife Elizabeth, have opted to attend the centre at the weekends and
in the evenings with their daughter, allowing them to study together as a
family.
Three other learners also collected certificates at the first anniversary
celebrations of the Quantum Centre.
The success of the Quantum Centre has prompted Rolls-Royce to consider how
this community model can be rolled out to other sites.
